The cost to fit a stove

Stove & Flue Liner Installations – What to Expect

The bread and butter of a stove fitter’s work is a wood-burning stove and flue liner installation. When fitting a stove into an existing masonry chimney, a standard installation typically includes:

  • Supply and installation of a stainless steel flexible Class 1 flue liner, pulled down through the existing chimney stack

  • Fitting of a chimney pot and rain cowl to protect the flue from rain and birds

  • A galvanised steel or cement board closure plate to seal the chimney opening, with a length of vitreous enamel flue pipe connecting the stove to the flue liner (sometimes exiting from the rear of the stove)

  • HETAS or Oftec registration certificate, a compliant carbon monoxide alarm, and a data plate (all legal requirements)

A correctly installed flue liner is essential for stove safety, efficiency, and long-term chimney performance.
